Finance Manager - Luxury Hotel & Vineyard Franschhoek
Kendrick Recruitment is now seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join a prestigious luxury hotel and vineyard based in Franschhoek. This role requires a hands-on and commercially minded professional who will oversee the full financial management function, drive profitability, and support strategic decision-making within the business.
Location: Franschhoek, Western Cape
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience + benefits
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08h00 to 17h00
Candidates residing in Franschhoek, Paarl, Stellenbosch, or the Northern Suburbs (Brackenfell, Durbanville, Kraaifontein) will be given preference.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and service excellence.
- Set clear goals, provide coaching, and drive continuous improvement across the department.
- Manage workloads effectively and address any team concerns promptly.
- Build financial awareness across departments and provide guidance to non-financial managers.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the full financial accounting function, including journals, reconciliations, month-end, management accounts, and intercompany transactions.
- Manage and develop financial systems in line with business and reporting needs.
- Drive profitability through continuous review of cost structures, margins, and yields.
- Present financial insights, forecasts, and variance analyses to senior management.
- Ensure accurate and timeous monthly reporting, including P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Produce detailed monthly departmental financial reports (Rooms, F&B, Spa, Winery, Retail).
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with department heads.
- Analyse variances between budgets, forecasts, actuals, and key performance indicators.
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimisation.
Operational Finance & Controls
- Implement and maintain internal controls, particularly in cash handling, stock management, and procurement.
- Manage comprehensive cash flow and monitor stock movements and related journals.
- Oversee POS and Property Management System integrations.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and Capex control schedule.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and standard operating procedures.
Compliance & Auditing
- Manage internal and external audit processes, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
- Oversee VAT, Income Tax, PAYE, UIF, and SDL obligations.
- Liaise with external auditors, SARS, and financial institutions as required.
- Ensure adherence to IFRS, company policies, and group reporting standards.

Qualifications & Experience
- BCom Accounting or equivalent degree.
- Completed SAICA articles.
- Minimum of 5 years' post-article experience in financial management or senior accounting.
- Hospitality industry experience preferred, with knowledge of restaurant POS and Property Management Systems.
- Proficiency in Sage X3 is essential.
