Job summary

A renowned safari lodge in KwaZulu-Natal is looking for a dynamic couple to fill the roles of Field Guide and Junior Front of House. The Field Guide must possess a recognized guiding qualification and communicate effectively while delivering memorable wildlife experiences. Meanwhile, the Front of House professional will ensure exceptional guest service and seamless operations. Ideal candidates have a strong passion for hospitality and wildlife in a remote setting, along with relevant experience and certifications.

  • Valid First Aid certification is essential.
  • Strong communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct professional game drives and guided bush walks.

Job description

An exclusive safari lodge is seeking a dynamic, service-driven couple to join its operations team. This opportunity is ideal for a qualified Field Guide partnered with a Junior Front of House professional who is passionate about wildlife, hospitality, and delivering exceptional guest experiences in a remote wilderness environment.

Position 1: Field Guide
  • Conduct professional game drives and guided bush walks in line with regulatory and safety standards
  • Deliver engaging, informative, and safety-focused wildlife experiences
  • Ensure guest safety at all times while in the field
  • Share in-depth knowledge of flora, fauna, ecology, and conservation
  • Maintain guiding equipment, vehicles, and radio communications
  • Assist with conservation, monitoring, and lodge sustainability initiatives
  • Represent the lodge professionally and uphold brand standards
Position 2: Front of House
  • Assist with guest check-ins, check-outs, and daily guest liaison
  • Support dining service, bar service, and hosting duties
  • Ensure guest areas are well-presented and aligned with luxury standards
  • Assist with activity scheduling and guest requests
  • Maintain a warm, professional, and attentive guest presence
  • Work closely with guiding, housekeeping, and kitchen teams to ensure seamless service
Requirements
  • Recognised field guiding qualification and relevant permits
  • Valid Trails Guide qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • PDP and valid driver’s licence
  • Valid First Aid certification
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Calm, confident approach in high-pressure or safety-critical situations
  • Passion for conservation and environmental education
  • Previous hospitality or lodge experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and guest comfort
  • Willingness to learn and grow within a luxury lodge environment
  • Professional appearance and service mindset
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
