DEPARTMENT: SERVICES

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure that quality and standard of maintenance, construction and safety standards for properties/assets constructed in the mine host communities meet the requirements of Impala standards and NHBRC guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Facility Management Certificate or NQF 5 Equivalent is essential.
  • Safety Certificate is essential.
  • Construction Management/ Civil Engineering Diploma or NQF 6 Equivalent is desirable.
  • Civil/Engineering Trade Certificate is desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years construction experience is essential.
  • 2 years supervisory experience is essential.
  • Valid medical certificate or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate

COMPETENCIES:

  • Good communication skills (Fluent in English)
  • Report writing & minute taking skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Ability to write scope of deliverables.
  • Ability to compile Bill of Quantities
  • Ability to determine progress subject to measurement
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles
  • Know and understand MHS Act and OSH Act
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of construction (masonry, carpentry etc)
  • Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Schedules maintenance work to be carried out.
  • Inspects, schedules and controls maintenance or monitors work in progress.
  • Programs and executes all internal quality audits and reports results to Management.
  • Ensures that a consistently high standard of quality control and supervision is maintained for each contract.
  • Always provides a service to the contract administrator by ensuring that the standards of work and the materials
  • supplied by contractors are as specified in accordance with the contract information.
  • Is familiar with the relevant drawings and written instructions, checks them, and uses them as a reference when inspecting work.
