Employee Relations Practitioner PRETORIA

12 Month Fixed Term Contract | R287 600pa

Purpose of the post

To provide support in the implementation of employee / employer relations activities in the department.

Key performance areas
  • Grievance management: Receive, register and log grievances; Facilitate and resolve grievances within applicable timeframes; Facilitate labour‑related programmes, collective bargaining, grievance resolution and dispute management processes promptly within the principles of the law; Conduct and compile grievance investigation reports.
  • Dispute Management: Facilitate disputes at GPSSBC; Provide support in terms of preparation during the dispute’s proceedings.
  • Misconduct management: Facilitate and implement misconduct and disciplinary processes within applicable time frames.
  • Represent the Department and draft the reports: Compile statistical submissions / reports on identified trends regarding misconduct and dispute matters.
  • Administration support: Draft documents and perform administration related to the job for effective performance of the unit; Conduct basic research on the trends available in the field of Employment Relations; Provide logistical support to procure goods or services; Coordinate meetings, information sessions / workshops to create awareness and enhance understanding of employee relations policy and procedure and ensure that meeting packs are distributed; Conduct follow‑ups on actions, ensure that the information is submitted on time and file ER records; Coordinate the implementation of agreed upon resolutions and labour policies; Provide assistance in compiling monthly management reports and include recommendations; Update and maintain database on disciplinary cases, grievance, suspensions, appeals processes, and other conflict cases; Coordinate the updating and submission of risk reports; Capture labour relations cases on Persal and other remunerative work request; Provide functional advice, and technical guidance to employees and management.

Minimum requirements
  • 3 years qualification (NQF level 6 or higher) in Labour Relations / Labour Law / Human Resources Management / Human Resources Development / Industrial Psychology / Industrial Relations or related qualification.
