Job summary

A leader in the Mobility Solutions industry is seeking an experienced Electrical Draughtman to join their team in Boksburg, Johannesburg. The ideal candidate should have a National Diploma in Mechanical Draughting or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of draughting experience in a manufacturing setting. Key responsibilities include generating detailed Manufacturing Data Packs and liaising with production teams to ensure alignment with specifications. Strong proficiency in CAD software is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ draughting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to press tooling design.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Generate detailed Manufacturing Data Packs including CAD models and technical drawings.
• Maintain ongoing product data management.
• Translate conceptual drawings into detailed technical drawings.
• Measure physical components using industry-standard equipment.

Skills

Proficiency in CAD software (SolidEdge preferred)

Knowledge of ISO standards for mechanical drawings

Understanding of GDandT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)

Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Education

• Minimum 2 years’ draughting experience in a manufacturing environment
• CAM software exposure
• CNC machining equipment and programming knowledge
• Exposure to press tooling design
• Proficient in CAD software (SolidEdge preferred)
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Knowledge of ISO standards for mechanical drawings
• Strong understanding of GDandT (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes:
  • Press / draw forming
  • Injection moulding
  • CNC machining

Responsibilities

• Generate detailed Manufacturing Data Packs, including CAD models, technical drawings, and 2D/3D deliverables
• Maintain ongoing product data management and updates across product categories
• Execute file and data management in line with company standards and conventions
• Liaise with production, quality control, and technical teams to ensure alignment with current manufacturing specifications
• Translate conceptual drawings or verbal briefs into detailed technical drawings
• Measure physical components using industry-standard measuring equipment and recreate accurate drawings
• Generate Bills of Material (BOMs) for costing and production purposes
• Maintain strict revision control and change management
• Ensure compliance with company SOPs for draughting operations
• Maintain a high standard of quality and accuracy in all draughting work
• Engage with procurement and external suppliers on outsourced manufacturing and R and D projects
• Participate in product development meetings and contribute to design improvement solutions
