A healthcare engineering firm in Cape Town seeks a Deputy Director for Metro Hub Technical Services. This role involves managing Hospital Engineering Services, overseeing maintenance projects, and ensuring technical guidance across health facilities. The ideal candidate will have a National Diploma in Engineering, significant manager experience in healthcare, and strong skills in specifications and tender documentation. The role demands physical fitness and a valid driver’s license. This position offers a competitive remuneration package of R896,436 per annum, with a flexible benefits structure.

(Maintenance workshops located in Lentegeur and Retreat)
Remuneration package: R896 436 per annum

Requirements: Minimum educational qualification: An appropriate National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical /Electrical) or equivalent relevant qualification.
Experience: Appropriate/recognisable managerial experience in health care engineering and maintenance after obtaining the relevant qualification e.g. National Diploma in Engineering. Appropriate experience in design, specification and maintenance of hospital infrastructure. Appropriate experience in the compilation of specifications and procurement documentation.
Inherent requirements of the job: Willing to work overtime and travel throughout the Cape Metro and parts of the Western Cape Province, often at short notice. Willing to assist in other institutions and directorates. Physically fit and able to inspect buildings and related engineering infrastructure and machinery. Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence.
Competencies (knowledge/skills): Knowledge in the compilation of specifications and tender documentation. Contracts and quality management skills. Knowledge of risk analysis and risk mitigation strategies and prioritisation. Conversant with OHSA and pertinent prescripts and regulations. Conversant with NEC contracts especially the Short-, Term service- and Framework agreement forms of contracts. Computer literate (MS Word, Auto CAD and Excel). Budgeting and planning of workshop activities to support the province with maintenance activities. Sound interpersonal and good verbal and written communication skills.
Duties (key result areas/outputs): Management and provision of an effective, efficient, and affordable Hospital Engineering Services. Monitor and evaluate maintenance projects according to the strategy, plans and provide feedback to all stakeholders. Perform inspections and provide transversal technical guidance and advice to Health Facilities within the Province. Implementation of projects and direct technical support to facilities. Finance and Supply Chain Management. People Management.
