  • Ensure that the production environment is ready to operate early morning, confirming that the equipment is in good running order, the correct amount of staff has been planned and daily targets and distribution requirements have been shared with the team;
  • Hold daily meetings with all team members, share vital information and motivate staff;
  • Provide regular feedback to the management team, explaining variances and deviations from plans;
  • The candidate must also be able to communicate with all individuals at the various levels (staff, management team and HO support staff)

  1. Monitoring of productivity throughout the day. Both at team level and individual level:
    • Volumes processed
    • Accuracy of task completed
    • Time taken to process/complete task/jobs
    • Level of orderliness and organization (housekeeping; 5 S principals)
  2. Ensure that the department has optimal staffing required:
    • Planning of staff
    • Reaction to quick changing environment
    • Communication across facilities
    • Synchronization with Labour broker
  3. Provide feedback to the team on production matters:
    • Continuous follow up
    • Managing dashboards and KPI’s
  4. Setting production targets:
    • Pro-activeness
    • Continuous evaluation of production versus targets
  5. Ensure that staff are positioned correctly based on abilities
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum Matric
  • Higher learning qualification preferable (i.e. Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations or Production Management)
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience (preferably within the manufacturing, FMCG and/or processing environments)
  • Previous supervisory/managerial experience
  • Computer literate
  • Performance management and IR skills
  • Security conscious
  • Good communication skills – Verbal and written
  • Numerical and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated and hands‑on

  • Manage a large team (up to 30 people)
