Overview

Investec UK Bank Technology is seeking a Data and Analytics Solutions Architect to lead and support architecture activities that guide the development and management of our Data and Analytics solutions proactively and holistically. The Solutions Architect will play a critical role in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions that meet the needs of our organization while ensuring adherence to industry best practices and data governance frameworks.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise architecture roles
• Proven experience designing and implementing data solutions on Microsoft Azure platform
• Demonstrated expertise in data modeling across conceptual, logical, and physical levels
• Strong background in data engineering principles, ETL / ELT processes, and data pipeline development
• Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK framework and data governance best practices
• Experience with data mesh architecture concepts and implementation
• Track record of leading architecture forums and evangelizing technical solutions

Technical Skills :

• Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft data services (Cloud and Onprem)
• Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Gen2 Lake Storage, Power BI, Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Eventhubs, SSIS, SSRS, Tabular models
• Proficiency in data modelling tools and techniques (ER diagrams, dimensional modeling, data vault methodology)
• Strong understanding of modern data architecture patterns (lakehouse, data mesh, lambda / kappa architectures)
• Experience with data integration technologies, APIs, and streaming platforms
• Knowledge of programming languages relevant to data engineering (SQL, Python, Scala, or similar)
• Familiarity with cloud-native development, microservices, and containerization technologies
• Understanding of data security, privacy regulations (GDPR, Data Protection Act), and compliance frameworks

Leadership and Communication Skills :

• Excellent facilitation and presentation skills with ability to lead architecture forums and stakeholder meetings
• Strong evangelization and influence skills to drive adoption of new technologies and methodologies
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and other solution architects
• Experience mentoring junior team members and promoting knowledge sharing
