What you’ll be doing

The Country Manager – South Africa is responsible for the commercial performance, market growth, and operational success of PayProp’s South African business. This includes leading the regional revenue organisation, building strategic market relationships, and driving sustainable business growth. You will report to the General Manager, UKI & Rest of World, and will work closely with global Sales Leadership, Marketing, Product, Customer Success, and Support teams. You will lead a team of Sales Managers and act as the senior point of accountability for PayProp in the South African market. While the role is ideally based in Johannesburg or Cape Town, we will prioritise the right leader over location.

Responsibilities
  • Own the South African commercial strategy, revenue performance, and market growth plan.
  • Drive both new business acquisition and expansion across existing customers.
  • Lead structured sales forecasting, pipeline management, and deal governance.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of Sales Managers, ensuring high performance and accountability.
  • Build a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Support Sales Managers with deal strategy, territory planning, and executive customer engagements.
  • Act as the face of PayProp in South Africa, representing the company with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Develop strategic relationships that strengthen PayProp’s market position and create growth opportunities.
  • Participate in / lead industry events, conferences, and client forums.
  • Work closely with Customer Success and Support to protect and improve customer retention and satisfaction.
  • Partner with Marketing to shape regional pipeline generation, event strategy, and campaign execution.
  • Provide real‑time market and customer feedback to Product and senior leadership to inform roadmap and prioritisation.
  • Lead operational cadence: forecasting, planning, reporting, performance measurement.
  • Contribute to budgeting and commercial planning for the region.
  • Ensure scalable and repeatable processes that support predictable growth.
Qualifications
  • Significant experience in senior commercial or sales leadership roles in SaaS or technology.
  • Strong understanding of B2B sales processes and multi‑stage sales cycles.
  • Proven ability to drive accurate forecasting, pipeline discipline, and revenue performance.
  • Experience leading and developing Sales Managers and high‑performing sales teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence across functions.
  • Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands‑on execution.
  • Willingness to travel across South Africa when needed and occasionally internationally too.
