Job Title: Contract Manager
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa & Nairobi, Kenya

Job Purpose

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Contract Manager to lead the full lifecycle of contract management—from bidding and drafting to negotiation and signing.


Responsibilities


  • Contract Generation & Management - Lead the contract generation process during the bidding phase, including preparation of commercial and legal proposals. Develop complete contract solutions during the generation phase, including drafting, modification, and consolidation of contract documents. Participate in or lead contract and project negotiations with clients to ensure mutual agreement. Oversee the review, finalization, and signing of contracts during the closing phase.

  • Contract Quality & Risk Management - Identify commercial and legal risks; develop and implement effective mitigation strategies. Serve as the functional reviewer for commercial and legal aspects, verifying and optimizing risk mitigation solutions. Analyze historical contracts and customer requirements to establish transaction norms and best practices. Produce the account’s contract management guidelines, incorporating real-world case handling and process improvement methods. Monitor the full contract lifecycle, ensuring quality and compliance with internal standards and customer expectations.

  • Continuous Improvement & Enablement - Enable teams with rapid deployment of transaction capabilities when new business scenarios or customer demands arise. Share contract management knowledge, tools, and tactics across the account to build internal capability and alignment.


Required Skills & Competencies


  • Technical Knowledge – Strong understanding of telecom fundamentals, commercial practices, legal and financial principles. Expertise in contract drafting, reading, reviewing, and negotiation. Proficiency in contract-related tools, systems, and business processes. Contract generation and review; Commercial and legal risk assessment; Decision-making and negotiation support; Customer engagement and relationship management; Sales project operations and risk control.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field. A postgraduate qualification is an advantage.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in contract management or commercial operations, preferably in the telecommunications or technology sector.
