Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in Germiston seeks a skilled professional to drive the World Class Manufacturing programme and ensure adherence to safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate must hold a relevant engineering degree and have over 8 years of experience in manufacturing processes. Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience in a Production or Process discipline within continuous process manufacturing.
  • Experience as a World Class Manufacturing Instructor.
  • Three years' experience with continuous improvement programmes such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the implementation of SG EHS Management system.
  • Manage WCM programme and ensure customer service levels are met.
  • Deliver plant's annual improvement plan and drive cost reduction.

Job description
Why do we need you?
  • Ensure SG EHS Management system is correctly implemented, driving the safety culture of the business.
  • Ensure all WCM-related work is preceded by the required standard of risk assessment.
  • Assess plant employees' WCM capability and ensure alignment with the delivery of WCM objectives.
  • Ensure the WCM programme is closing gaps to deliver the required level of Customer Service.
  • Deliver the Plant's annual improvement plan using defined WCM methodologies, ensuring a 3% total cost reduction target is achieved.
  • Manage the WCM cost in line with the annual budget.
  • Define the plant WCM Budget (1-year plan).
  • Define the plant WCM Long Range Plan (3-year plan).
  • Develop the WCM Route Map and ensure adherence (5-year plan).
  • Audit the WCM programme according to set protocols to ensure correct application of WCM methods.
  • Facilitate and lead the Cost Deployment/Focussed Improvement Pillars.
  • Ensure WCM and other projects are completed as per the annual plan.
Is this job for you?

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor of Engineering or Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering. Must have previously been a World Class Manufacturing Instructor with at least 8 years’ experience in a Production or Process discipline within a continuous process manufacturing environment. Candidate must have three years’ experience working with continuous improvement programmes such as World Class Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Process Control. This role requires a person with the ability to coach and develop others; the ideal candidate will influence others effectively. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
