A leading property development company is seeking an experienced and proactive Buyer to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time, in-office role with some flexibility around lunch. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30.
Responsibilities
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiate costs, monitor import processes, and ensure procurement aligns with company policies and site requirements.
- Ensure pricing is within budget and obtain the best value from suppliers.
- Manage and maintain the supplier database, identifying opportunities for improved pricing.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favourable costs.
- Receive and evaluate quotations, selecting suppliers based on prescribed criteria.
- Approve orders and monitor supplier deliverables.
- Oversee all import processes and monitor import costs.
Compliance & Relationships
- Ensure suppliers comply with BEE requirements and SHEQ standards.
- Maintain positive relationships with existing suppliers and develop new supplier networks.
- Address supplier queries efficiently and professionally.
Administration & Reporting
- Prioritise workflow according to site requirements.
- Analyse and report on supplier performance and satisfaction.
- Support teams with accurate documentation and administration related to procurement.
Requirements
- 3+ years’ relevant experience, preferably within construction or property development.
- Experience with procurement/construction management systems (Buildsmart experience is highly advantageous).
- Strong administrative, technical, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Well-presented, driven, enthusiastic, and a team player.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
