Reporting to: Compliance Director
Position Purpose
The Regional Compliance Manager is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Compliance Program across SMEC Regional Africa.
Key Activities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the Compliance Program by drafting policies, procedures, and processes.
- Brief stakeholders on the impact of new or amended compliance requirements; monitor project timelines; prepare file notes and presentations.
- Conduct research on best practices and industry standards relevant to the compliance program.
- Provide regional perspective on compliance matters.
- Ensure the development and implementation of the Compliance Program meet set deadlines; keep stakeholders informed of compliance updates and expectations.
- Manage compliance activities prescribed in the Compliance Program (e.g., COI GHE Modern Slavery), including reviewing and responding to entries in the Compliance portal or emails.
- Oversee regular review of business partner due diligence activities.
- Coordinate and manage the ISO certification program.
- Manage and coordinate risk registers as prescribed in the Compliance Program; participate in investigations as needed.
- Develop and deliver compliance training and communication across SMEC.
- Handle logistical arrangements for all compliance training sessions, including preparing training materials and invitations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Provide high-level customer service with innovative and timely solutions.
- Communicate effectively and consult with stakeholders to clarify issues and needs, enabling suitable solutions.
- Adopt a collaborative approach, valuing contributions and seeking assistance when appropriate.
Experience and Qualifications
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in an engineering consulting environment, particularly in project management and delivery processes.
- Knowledge and experience in implementing and maintaining certified management systems.
- Understanding of commercial business drivers.
- Knowledge of management systems and relevant ISO AS/NZS standards.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint.
