Are you a master of words with fantastic creative ideas coupled with a love for and knowledge of food? Do you have a can-do, solutions-focused attitude?

South Africa’s leading content marketing agency wants to work with you on our fast-paced Woolworths account. We are looking for a multi-talented, food-obsessed community manager and content producer to join the team to work on the TASTE brand. The successful candidate will report to the online editor and will be responsible for editorial content creation across multiple platforms. This role will be based at our Cape Town offcies.

What the role entails
Community management
  • Work with the social media manager to build out TASTE’s community strategy
  • In partnership with the head of content, build an outreach and engagement growth strategy across multiple channels
  • Write clean copy in the TASTE tone of voice, maintaining our food authority
  • Work with the food editors to ensure all food information is correct, and to answer all queries timeously
  • Assist the social media manager with scheduling, as needed
Content creation
  • Ideate written content for the TASTE website to service the trendspotter audience and sales clients
  • Write regularly for the TASTE website including listicles, columns, interviews, how tos and SEO-led content.
  • Ideate and produce lofi video executions for content that you have written
Newsletter creation
  • Working with the head of content and online editor, build and schedule newsletters and promo mailers
  • Produce newsletter exclusive content
  • Stay abreast of trends in newsletter design and propose changes to the design in line with this
  • Check stats on a weekly basis and feed back to digital team weekly with ideas to improve outcomes
  • Conduct regular A/B testing (at least once per month) to trial new initiatives, design tweaks or copy changes
Newsletter database growth
  • Working with the head of content and online editor, develop and execute an ongoing plan to grow the database
  • Stay abreast of trends in this area
General
  • Preparation for and participation in all content brainstorms across platforms including video, digital, print and commercial (if required)
  • Assistance with video shoot logistics
  • Assisting with video production as needed
What we’re looking for
  • Good knowledge of and interest in food/food writing/food trends
  • Digital media experience and SEO know-how
  • Creative writing skills
  • Video production skills would be a bonus
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills
  • Efficient and can work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of WordPress (advantageous)
  • A people’s person with good communication skills
  • To be meticulous and thorough
What you would require
  • A recognized university degree or equivalent qualification in journalism, copywriting, media or a similar relevant field
  • At least 3 years’ content creation/copywriting experience in a similar position in a retail, publishing, brand or agency environment
  • A sound working knowledge of digital and social media channels, including bought media on social
  • Experience of working in a CMS
  • An adaptable nature with a willingness to get involved in all aspects of the role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the willingness to be a team player
  • The ability to work under pressure and proactively deal with high-stress situations
