Job summary

About the job Commercial Accountant

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting Divisional Executive with cost and sales analysis and report
  • Preparing forecasting estimates and variance analysis
  • Preparation and analysis of various monthly Sales Reports and Sales Estimates
  • Preparation of Costings and Maintaining all costing data on the system
  • Analysing data and costings for cost saving initiatives
  • To drive each change through to completion with the aid of the various departments
  • Use knowledge and experience to challenge data where necessary
  • Review costings of all products and be able to determine pricing for all Sales related queries
  • Preparation and Analysis of quarterly pricing data bases
  • Maintaining accurate gross margin records and reconciling to monthly income statements issued by the finance department
  • Month end schedules and reports on various costs, margins etc
  • Preparation of and continuous improvements on key management statistics in the business (R/kg, throughput, number of wage heads)
  • Preparation of annual budgets, ad hoc tenders and new product launch documents
  • Helping the Divisional Executive and Financial Exec with ad hoc assignments

Qualifications and experience:
  • B Com/B Compt with accounting subjects
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in an accounting or production environment
  • Manufacturing cost accounting will be advantageous
  • SAP experience will be advantageous
  • Advanced Excel and Microsoft office
