About the Role
As a Hyperion Dev facilitator, you must be passionate not just about coding or technology, but also about education and introducing new learners to the power (and potential) of programming. You must feel strongly about improving the quality of education and be highly motivated to see your students succeed. You must have a proven track record in helping students learn how to code, be it as a peer mentor, school teacher, university lecturer or online tutor. You will lead the delivery of online coding education as part of Hyperion Dev's online coding bootcamps, serving thousands of students worldwide each year and unlocking tremendous opportunities for your learners, creating a transformative impact in their lives. You will progress along a well‑defined career path as a coding educator, upskilling your technical and educational skills through our internal training opportunities.
Essential Requirements
- Degree/Diploma/Bootcamp, or relevant experience, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related field
- 1+ years of programming experience or teaching experience in a core programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, or C++
- Experience in student support, facilitation, mentoring or training
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Fast learner with a willingness to learn new stacks and technologies
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Patience and empathy for your students
- Problem‑solving and positive attitude
- Ability to craft and maintain student spreadsheets and collate student data

Preferred Requirements
- 2+ years of programming experience or teaching experience in a core programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, or C++
- Previous experience in online education or edtech
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and online teaching tools
- Experience designing and developing interactive learning experiences
- Experience working with online students or delivering remote support
- Active involvement in local and international tech communities
- Mastery in one or more of Python, Java, JavaScript (MERN stack), Data Science, Machine Learning, iOS/Android development

Responsibilities
- Conduct regular 1:1 facilitation sessions across time zones, providing academic, technical and motivational support to students
- Offer constructive feedback and guidance tailored to individual student needs
- Monitor student progress and identify those at risk of falling behind, providing proactive intervention and support
- Identify and implement new strategies for improving student completion rates and retention
- Review, grade and provide feedback on student tasks and submissions in line with grading rubrics and quality standards
- Ensure all reviews are completed within the company’s SLA timelines
- Ensure consistency, fairness and accuracy in evaluations
- Maintain a timely turnaround on grading and feedback to support student progression
- Collaborate periodically with the Learning Design team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on curriculum development and improvement projects
- Review and suggest updates to course content to ensure relevance, accuracy and alignment with industry standards
- Contribute insights from student interactions to enhance curriculum effectiveness and learner engagement
- Maintain accurate student records and mentoring notes
- Participate in team meetings, training and professional development initiatives
- Uphold academic integrity and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Provide training on advanced curriculum and new technology stacks introduced in each bootcamp
- Review and update course content and teaching methods regularly
- Assist Technical Education Managers in developing new strategies to improve pedagogical processes and student completion rates
- Assist the Careers Lead in ensuring course content and teaching methods remain highly aligned to hiring partner needs, promoting high student job placement rates
