Duties and Responsibilities
  • Orientate students both in the skills laboratory and clinical facilities.
  • Facilitate clinical teaching and learning as well as assessments of students in the clinical learning environment.
  • Accompany students in the clinical facility for continuous supervision and support.
  • Participate in an ongoing evaluation of clinical learning experiences.
  • Monitor students' clinical movements and keep necessary records.
  • Maintain a portfolio of evidence of own work and submit regularly as stipulated.
  • Perform other clinical duties assigned.
  • Participate in assessment competence and remedial support of students.
  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching of students.
  • Apply effective communication, interpersonal and conflict management skills to foster collaboration among students, clinical staff, and patients.
  • Mediate between the UFS School of Nursing and Clinical Practice.
Inherent Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing on NQF Level 8 or equivalent (attach a copy).
  • Registration with the South Africa Nursing Council as a professional nurse (General, Psychiatry, Community) and Midwife (attach a copy).
  • Additional qualification in Primary Care Nursing (attach a copy).
  • Additional qualification in Nursing Education (attach a copy).
  • A valid driver's license (attach a copy).
Recommendations
  • Masters in Nursing on NQF level 9 (attach a copy).
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an assessor and/or moderator (attach a copy).
