A financial services company in South Africa is looking for a Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance department. The ideal candidate will ensure the financial health of the company and manage all accounting functions. About the job Chief Financial Officer

MAIN PURPOSE

The CFO will be responsible for the financial health of the company and its subsidiary. The CFO will also produce financial reports, direct investment activities, and develop strategies and plans for the organization's long-term financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and motivate staff to ensure high levels of performance.
  • Develop finance policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and legal and risk compliance.
  • Develop, implement and maintain financial systems and processes.
  • Perform continuous cash management and cash flow forecasting.
  • Compile the annual and medium-term budgets and forecasts.
  • Guide and monitor procurement processes to ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Support the payroll processing by verifying ad-hoc payments and commission calculation, then ensuring timely payment.
  • Manage Royalty and Vendor payments.
  • Perform month End Processing and Reporting, including but not limited to:
  • Verifying that all customer receipt allocations have been correctly done,
  • Reconciling Pastel processing batches for both revenue and expenses, bank statement and invoices, respectively.
  • Reviewing broadcaster invoicing to ensure the mathematical accuracy of the formula used for calculations, then updating the broadcaster invoice batch on Pastel.
  • Review monthly financial reconciliations.
  • Develop and report on management accounts.
  • Co-ordinate the annual auditing process and the preparation of annual financial statements
  • Report to the Finance and Distribution Committee, as a sub-committee of the Board, as and when required.
  • Manage entity tax profiles, ensuring that:
  • VAT and Income Tax returns are completed and submitted on time.
  • The payroll service provider does PAYE submissions.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Relevant Postgraduate accounting qualification with a recognised institution.
  • Chartered Accountant registered with SAICA.
  • Working experience in Pastel Accounting or related systems.
  • 10+ years experience in a management environment will be an advantage
