They are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead and grow their public sector client portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to identify new opportunities, build strong relationships with government departments and agencies, and drive revenue growth through strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Strategy: Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities within the public sector.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow revenue and market share.
- Conduct market research to stay informed on government priorities, projects, and procurement trends.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in government departments, municipalities, and public institutions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for public sector clients.
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and foster long-term partnerships.
- Tender & Proposal Management: Monitor public sector tenders, requests for proposals (RFPs), and bids.
- Coordinate preparation and submission of tender documents in compliance with procurement regulations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive proposals and pricing strategies.
- Contract Negotiation & Management: Negotiate terms and conditions with public sector clients.
- Monitor contract performance to ensure delivery against agreed commitments.
- Reporting & Performance Tracking: Track business development activities, pipeline, and performance metrics.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on opportunities, risks, and achievements.
- Continuously evaluate and improve business development processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably within the public sector.
- In-depth knowledge of public sector procurement processes, regulations, and tender management.
- Strong relationship management and networking skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinker with a results-driven approach and the ability to work independently.
Desirable
- Experience working with government departments, municipalities, or public institutions in South Africa.
- Knowledge of BEE compliance and reporting.
