This role is in support of Cencoras global logistics and storage services marketed through our World Courier business.

We are seeking a Business Development Executive to join our team in Johannesburg, South Africa. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to take ownership of a portfolio, nurture existing clients and drive new business growth across Africa.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Develop New Accounts: Identify, qualify, and prioritise potential opportunities to build a strong client base showcasing World Courier’s industry-leading logistics and storage services.
  • Client Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of new and existing clients across various markets, nurturing relationships to drive growth and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Customer Insights: Build an in‑depth understanding of clients’ businesses, industries and strategic goals to position World Courier as their trusted logistics and storage partner.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Develop value‑added partnerships with key decision‑makers to position long‑term strategic solutions aligned with World Courier’s offerings.
  • Promote World Courier Capabilities: Showcase the full range of Cencora’s logistics and storage services to clients emphasising our innovative solutions for clinical trials, commercial pharma and gene therapy.
  • Marketing Initiatives: Represent World Courier at marketing campaigns, trade shows and seminars to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work with internal teams to develop high‑impact, complex and strategic solutions tailored to customer needs.
  • KPI Management: Monitor and improve quality through specific metrics, customer satisfaction and issue resolution ensuring World Courier’s standards are met.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify risk areas and implement contingency plans to mitigate them.
  • Market Exploration: Identify new market opportunities and drive business expansion across Africa.
  • Sales Pipeline Management: Track sales pipelines and key performance indicators to ensure targets are met and opportunities are maximised.
What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a highly motivated and results‑driven individual who is ready to hit the ground running. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Experience: 3‑5 years in a Business Development or Sales role within the Commercial / Clinical Pharma industry.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated ability to grow and manage client portfolios with a hunter mentality to secure new business.
  • Skills: Strong relationship management, strategic thinking and customer‑focused approach.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with South African / African business regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel within Africa as required.
  • Qualifications: Valid driver’s licence and proper authorisation to work in South Africa.
