About the job BUSINESS ANALYST- TAX TECHNOLOGY

The Business Analyst will play a critical role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of our tax technology product. The role bridges tax domain knowledge, business requirements, and technology delivery, ensuring that the product meets regulatory requirements, user needs, and commercial objectives.

The successful candidate will work closely with tax specialists, developers, and external stakeholders to translate complex tax rules into a scalable, user-friendly Saas solution.

Key Deliverables
1. Requirements & Analysis
  • Gather, analyse and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements for tax technology solutions.
  • Translate corporate income tax legislation and regulatory requirements into system logic and user stories.
  • Conduct gap analysis between current processes and proposed system functionality.
  • Maintain traceability between regulatory requirements, business rules, and system features.
2. Product & Solution Design
  • Collaborate with the head of product to define product features and roadmaps.
  • Develop process flows, data models, and business rules for tax calculations and workflows.
  • Support UX/UI design by defining user journeys, personas, and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, configurable, and adaptable to regulatory change.
3. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a liaison between tax experts, technology teams, and business users.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and sprint planning activities.
  • Support communication with external partners where applicable.
4. Agile Delivery Support
  • Write and manage user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria in Agile tools (e.g. Jira).
  • Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and prioritisation.
  • Assist QA teams with test scenarios, UAT planning, and defect triage.
  • Validate delivered functionality against requirements and regulatory expectations.
5. Compliance & Risk Awareness
  • Ensure product features align with tax legislation, audit requirements, and data governance standards.
  • Support regulatory change impact assessments and system updates.
  • Identify and elevate risks related to compliance, data accuracy, and system integrity.
  • Stay up to date with tax legislations through thorough research initiatives.
6. Continuous Improvement
  • Analyse product usage, user feedback, and operational metrics.
  • Propose enhancements to improve automation, accuracy, and user experience.
  • Contribute to documentation, training materials, and product knowledge bases.
  • Provide training to drive usage and adoption within the clients.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
  • 3-7 years experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in tax, finance, fintech environments.
  • Strong understanding of tax concepts and compliance processes would be a benefit (specifically corporate tax).
  • Experience working on technology product development (SaaS or enterprise platforms).
  • Proven ability to translate legislation or complex rules into system requirements.
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
  • Strong documentation skills (BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process maps).
Technical & Tools
  • Agile tools: Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps (or similar)
  • Modelling tools: BPMN, UML, process flow tools
  • Data understanding: APIs, data flows, calculations, validation rules
  • SQL or basic data analysis skills (advantageous)
Desirable
  • Exposure to tax engines, ERP systems, or compliance software
  • Background in accounting, tax advisory, or financial systems
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies or audits
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification in Tax, Finance, or Business Analysis (advantageous)
  • Business Analysis or Agile certifications (CBAP, CCBA, SAFe, Scrum) - advantageous
