Job summary

A consulting firm is seeking an experienced Legal Bookkeeper with Trust Investments & Creditors experience to join their finance department. The ideal candidate will have a Bookkeeping Diploma and at least 3 years of experience in an accounting environment, particularly within a law firm. Key responsibilities include processing payments, performing reconciliations, and preparing for audits. Located in Sandton, this full-time position offers a competitive salary between R25,000 – R31,000 CTC per month.

Qualifications

  • Matric is essential.
  • Bookkeeping Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting or finance environment is necessary.
  • Experience in a law firm is essential.
  • Full working knowledge of MS Office package is required.

Responsibilities

  • Capturing and reconciling vendor payments.
  • Processing business and trust EFT payments.
  • Performing monthly reconciliations and trust balance clean-ups.
  • Submitting all required monthly reports.
  • Preparing files and documentation for annual audits.

LEGAL BOOKKEEPER - (Trust Investments & Creditors)

Location: Sandton, Johannesburg

Type: Full Time & On-site

Salary: R25,000 – R31,000 CTC per month (including benefits)

Intro

An exciting opportunity exists within a finance department for an experienced Legal Bookkeeper with Trust Investment & Creditors experience, reporting to senior financial management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capturing and reconciling vendor payments
  • Processing business and trust EFT payments
  • Processing new trust investments in line with Section 86(4) of the Legal Practice Act, including guarantees, add-ons, withdrawals, and closures
  • Performing monthly reconciliations and trust balance clean-ups
  • Handling ad hoc queries from internal stakeholders
  • Submitting all required monthly reports
  • Preparing files and documentation for annual audits
  • Performing general ad hoc duties within the finance department
  • Providing cover for team members during periods of leave
Minimum Requirements
  • Matric (essential)
  • Bookkeeping Diploma
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting or finance environment
  • Law firm experience (essential)
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel (essential)
  • Full working knowledge of the MS Office package
  • CMS/Aderant experience (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of FICA and KYC principles (advantageous)
  • Banking experience (advantageous)
