Overview

Bookkeeper — Location: Nigel — Company: Accounting firm

A dynamic and expanding accounting firm in Pretoria is seeking a Bookkeeper to join their finance team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-changing financial and tax environment and is passionate about accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily bank and cash reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Handle accounts receivable and payable, including client invoicing, supplier invoice processing, payment management, and debtor follow-ups.
  • Accurately capture transactions in accounting software (Pastel, Sage, or Xero) and maintain well-organised financial records.
  • Manage payroll and general ledger entries.
  • Prepare and maintain financial reports.
  • Conduct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes efficiently and on time.
  • Assist with VAT preparation, including gathering supporting documentation and compiling draft VAT reports for review.
  • Oversee petty cash transactions, balancing and reconciling regularly.
  • Provide support to the Finance Manager and senior staff as required.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 2 years’ experience in accounting and tax.
  • Experience with draftworx is advantageous
  • Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.
