Job description

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
2. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
3. Set up components for welding according to specifications.
4. Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
5. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
6. Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
7. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
8. A person with an eye on artistic ways of building structures.
9. Knowledge of building Stairs, Balustrades, Convayors, Crushers, Hoppers.
10. Know how to build Industrial Gates and Carports
11. Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
12. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
13. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
14. Risk Assessments and Pre-Checklist of Equipment
15. Attention to detail and Good Housekeeping Standards

Desired Experience & Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Proven experience as welder/boilermaker with Red Seal (Trade Test)
• Must reside in the East Rand Area

Experience:

1. Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG, Oxy Acetylene etc.)
2. Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
3. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
4. Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
5. Deftness and attention to detail
6. Proficient in English and Mathematical and AutoCAD
7. Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required
8. Stable work Record.
