Job summary

The role involves executing building and engineering maintenance services as per health and safety regulations. Candidates must have an N2 qualification or Technical Grade 12, an accredited trade certificate, and at least 3 years of relevant experience in general maintenance. • Ensure all maintenance work and services are completed daily.

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

• The purpose of this post is to execute Building and Engineering related maintenance work and services to all NMU buildings on all campuses and in accordance with the Health and Safety Act and NMU policies and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• To ensure all works requisitions and job cards are completed daily.
• To ensure that all building and engineering maintenance work and services are completed daily.

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Have excellent knowledge of NMU Buildings and Services infrastructure.
• Have knowledge of regulations within the Health and Safety Act relating to chemical gases, machinery, scaffolding, ladders, etc.
• Have knowledge of supervising personnel.
• Have knowledge of reading, writing and calculation of technical data.
• Have good maintenance related skills.
• Have good knowledge of building plans & specifications.

REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must have the following:

• N2 Qualification or Technical Grade 12.
• Accredited Trade Certificate Preferable Mechanical or other.
• 3 years relevant experience in General maintenance.
• Unendorsed Category B driver’s license.

Please note that candidates who are invited for an interview will be expected to undergo an in-person interview which may include a competency-based assessment of skills in the areas of carpentry. Candidates will be given sufficient time to prepare for this.
