Application Engineer, Valmet

Join us as an Application Engineer in our Flow Control organization and take the lead in delivering cutting‑edge solutions that make a real impact.

You will work on exciting projects, collaborate with diverse teams, and contribute to ensuring customer satisfaction and business growth.

This position will be based in Durban reporting to the Director, Sales and Services – Sub‑Equatorial & South Africa.

Johannesburg might be considered as an additional location.

Responsibilities

• Provide best technical advice to the sales team and customers to develop and successfully implement product and service solutions that will meet the customer's needs
• Prepare techno‑commercial quotations that meet customer requirements, expectations and delivery times
• Provide timely responses to customer inquiries and clarifications after offer submission
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (sales, service, finance, operations, product management) to ensure that products and services are modified, configured and offered according to customer needs
• Manage order processing and oversee post‑order activities, including preparation of drawings, quality plans, and coordination with support functions to ensure smooth execution and timely invoicing

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or a related field
• 3‑5 years of experience in application engineering or quotation; valve experience is an asset
• Knowledge of commercial terms and conditions of sales, Incoterms, international trade & finance requirements
• Knowledge of commercial documents such as LC / SBLC / Bank Guarantees etc.
• Experience with finance and logistics related activities in an ERP system
• Experience supporting an international sales office through a centralized support team
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
• Fluency in English, with advanced communication skills for clear and professional interaction across global teams
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
• Willingness to travel occasionally
