Why join our team!

As a Product Marketing Portfolio Lead, you’ll be at the heart of Nedbank’s future‑fit marketing ecosystem — a space where challenges like fragmented customer journeys, evolving digital behaviours, and competitive pressure become opportunities to innovate and lead. You’ll unite the voice of the customer, the strength of the brand, and the power of data to ensure every product delivers measurable impact, real value, and competitive differentiation. This role is about bridging creativity and commerce, unlocking growth through digital‑first strategies, and shaping experiences that resonate. You won’t just respond to change — you’ll anticipate it, turning complexity into simplicity and driving adoption in a fast‑moving market.

Who You Are
You’re not just a marketer — you’re a growth strategist who sees every challenge as a chance to innovate. You treat marketing as a powerful growth lever, not a cost centre, and thrive in environments where complexity demands clarity. You’re equally comfortable setting bold strategic direction and rolling up your sleeves to execute with precision. You combine analytical rigor with creative intuition, turning data into stories that inspire action. Collaboration is second nature — you build trust across Product, Marketing, and Distribution teams to create seamless customer experiences. You champion relevance, simplicity, and value as the ultimate differentiators, and your curiosity drives you to transform obstacles into breakthroughs.

Job Purpose

The Product Marketing Portfolio Lead is a senior strategic marketer responsible for driving product‑market fit, commercial growth, and customer adoption across their designated product portfolio.

Operating at the intersection of marketing, product, data, and commercial strategy, this role ensures that every product within the portfolio is deeply aligned to customer needs, commercially viable, and positioned for growth.

Each Portfolio Lead will own a defined product set — Lending, Beyond Banking, or Transactional, Savings & Investments — and serve as the voice of the customer within product design and the voice of the product within marketing execution.

This is a high‑impact, analytical, and creative leadership role that blends strategic storytelling with commercial accountability and digital‑first marketing execution.

Job Responsibilities

Portfolio Strategy & Market Leadership

  • Define and lead the marketing strategy and growth roadmap for the assigned product portfolio, aligned with business and segment priorities.
  • Partner with Segment, Product, Finance, and Distribution teams to ensure clear product‑market fit and differentiated value propositions.
  • Develop and maintain deep market, customer, and competitor understanding to inform strategic decisions.
  • Translate insights into targeted marketing plans that drive awareness, acquisition, usage, and retention.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Growth Marketing to integrate portfolio strategies into the broader growth and brand ecosystem.

Go‑To‑Market Excellence

  • Own the go‑to‑market (GTM) process for new product launches, enhancements, and campaigns — ensuring clear positioning, pricing, and messaging.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams (Product, Segment, CX, Legal, and Digital) to manage launch readiness and execution excellence.
  • Develop customer and partner communication frameworks, ensuring consistent brand and tone of voice across channels.
  • Measure and report on launch performance, adoption, and market impact; iterate strategies based on results.

Commercial Growth & Performance

  • Drive measurable growth in key metrics such as acquisition, activation, utilisation, retention, and cross‑sell.
  • Work with the Head of Growth Marketing and data analytics to identify opportunities for revenue acceleration and conversion improvement.
  • Build robust business cases for marketing investments, tracking ROI across channels and initiatives.
  • Partner with the Digital team to optimise performance marketing, digital journeys, and conversion funnels.
  • Ensure marketing programmes translate into tangible business outcomes through tight collaboration with distribution and digital channels.

Data, Insights & Customer Understanding

  • Lead with a data‑first mindset, leveraging analytics, segmentation, and behavioural insights to shape strategy.
  • Collaborate with Customer Insights and CX teams to understand drivers of loyalty, churn, and product satisfaction.
  • Identify untapped growth segments and test hypotheses through pilot campaigns and A/B experimentation.
  • Track and share insights on competitive offerings, global trends, and emerging customer needs.

Stakeholder Management & Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the strategic marketing partner to the relevant Product Executive, ensuring alignment of business and marketing priorities.
  • Partner with Segment Heads of Marketing to ensure product messaging lands powerfully across different customer segments.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Risk, and Legal to ensure product marketing is compliant, responsible, and commercially sound.
  • Lead the internal narrative for product portfolio — equipping frontline and digital teams with compelling, actionable content.

Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Deliver and execute through the central Marketing Operations teams.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, and commercial focus.
  • Champion collaboration across teams — ensuring best practices and learnings are shared across portfolios.
  • Mentor emerging marketers in data interpretation, strategic storytelling, and full‑funnel marketing.
