Job description
Responsibilities: Curate Content for Exhibition and Outreach
  • Carry out research to enrich collection content. This includes investigative fieldwork, interviewing stakeholders and writing.
  • Curate and write content, conceptualise themes and narratives for exhibitions and publications, including corporate communications collaterals.
  • Conceptualise and organise programmes and activities and oversee its implementation.
  • Organise and work with internal stakeholders, and vendors to install exhibitions.
  • Partner the Head (Museum and Archive) in organising and preparing art proposals for display in offices and public spaces and oversee its installation.
  • Oversee outreach and propose promotion strategies of museum and archive projects, including attending to internal and public enquiries regarding collections, and leading tours in exhibitions.
Develop a World‑class University Archive and Art Collection
  • Work with the Head, in sourcing; identifying; appraising; and developing quality art and archive collections.
  • Partner with the Head and Senior Archivist in reviewing strategies and maintaining a sustainable framework and schedule to archive old and new collection across the University.
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to explore and confirm acquisitions, negotiating terms of acquisitions according to industry practice and University's guidelines.
  • Oversee the acquisition processes, for example, collecting from source and preparing relevant Deeds and Agreements for National Heritage Board and Inland Revenue of Singapore, where applicable, and Agreements related to IP matters to address and confirm ownership status and rights of use.
  • Work with Senior Archivist and Art Collection Manager to enrich content by providing research information for the Collection Information Resource database, ensure accuracy in information and its accessibility for instructional and research purpose.
Archive and Art Collection Management
  • Work with the Head in reviewing policies and workflow to ensure excellence in core functions such as collections management, conservation, exhibitions, access, use and dissemination of information for the benefit of the NTU Community and the public.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of preventive conservation strategies according to best practices to conserve the university's art collection and preserve archival collection to ensure longevity of artworks and objects, retrievability and readability of digital data for lifelong access and use.
Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Partnerships
  • Work with the Head in internal and external stakeholder management and maintain strong professional relationships and long‑term partnerships.
  • Work with the Head in seeking collaboration opportunities with faculty, integrating the work of the Museum and Archive into curriculum, including connecting with reputable external agencies to enrich student's experiential learning in NTU.
  • Work with the Head in seeking external public art commissions opportunities for NTU, including working with NTU's Advancement Office to seek donations and sponsorships to grow a unique and distinctive interdisciplinary and fine art collection for the University.
  • Oversee the implementation of projects in all partnerships to ensure smooth and on time implementation.
Public Art Management
  • Work with the Head in providing project management support in the development of new public art projects.
  • Work with the Head in coordinating with artists and internal stakeholders to ensure all public artworks on the Campus Art Trail are in pristine condition.
Corporate and Finance Governance Services
  • Implement good stewardship in finances and utilisation of the budgets, for full compliance with NTU's administrative and procurement policies.
  • Comply with processes and ensure effective stewardship and accountability with regard to the university's art and archive collection to prevent loss of collections and its monetary value, due to neglect ignorance, improper handling, poor condition of displays and compromised processes.
Requirements
  • BA (with Hons) in Arts or Social Sciences in history, humanities and social sciences or curatorial studies.
  • At least 5 years of curatorial experience in a reputable museum or gallery.
  • Good track record of exhibition and programme curation. An interest in promoting institutional history in a interdisciplinary environment is advantageous.
  • Excellent story‑teller and guide in exhibitions.
  • Experience in proposing outreach strategies to the young audience, through various platforms including social media, design and write content for marketing and promotional purposes.
  • Experience in stakeholder and donor engagement, soliciting donations, secure loans of significant collection and sponsorships.
  • Possess basic knowledge in international museum and archive principles, standards and practices, development, current and emerging trends, and professional code of ethics and practices.
