Job summary

A Japanese multinational company in Singapore is seeking a Legal Counsel to prepare, examine, and negotiate contracts while advising on corporate and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law, is qualified to practice in Singapore, and has 3–5 years of relevant experience. Strong expertise in contract law and regulatory compliance is essential, along with familiarity in maritime law. This position offers an engaging role within a dynamic legal environment.

Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare, examine, and negotiate contracts and other legal documentation supporting local and regional business activities.
• Advise the business on corporate, commercial, and regulatory legal matters.
• Support and implement compliance programs, including competition law, anti-bribery/anti-corruption, and data privacy requirements.
• Assist with the oversight and coordination of litigation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution matters.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external legal advisors to identify and manage legal risks.
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations and provide guidance on their impact on business operations.
• Perform additional legal duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Law.
• Qualified to practice law in Singapore, with admission to the Singapore Bar required.
• At least 3–5 years of experience in a law firm or in‑house legal role, preferably within an international or multinational business environment.
• Solid expertise in contract law and regulatory compliance matters.
• Familiarity with maritime law, trade and sanctions compliance, mergers and acquisitions, or other relevant industry‑specific regulations is an advantage.
