Job Purpose

To lead and manage maintenance work to ensure work quality and commuter safety, including planning, executing, and reporting on corrective and preventive maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of the track system for train operations by implementing effective and efficient maintenance strategies aligned with the rail business Codes of Practice.

• Provide technical advice and engineering support to line maintenance activities, focusing on improvements through innovation and new technology.

• Monitor and control expenditures to ensure they stay within allocated budgets for both Capital and Operating accounts.

• Align staff with the company's vision, mission, and core values through regular communication and development sessions, including progress updates and rollout plans.

• Manage supervisory staff and section managers to meet KPIs and maintain high productivity, including:

• Organizing manpower deployment according to workload.

• Reviewing processes for resource deployment.

• Assessing in-house work capacity versus outsourcing options.

• Participating in regular branch performance meetings.

• Training and developing staff for competence and career progression, including identifying learning needs and aligning training programs with SMRTi.

• Maintaining good industrial relations by fostering rapport with ground staff and union representatives and ensuring open communication channels.

• Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
• Preferably at least 10 years of relevant experience, with 5 years in a managerial role.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of project management and contractual issues is preferred, with the ability to make impartial contractual judgments.
