ABOUT THE ROLE
Designation: Sustainability & Catalytic Capital for Climate & Health
Reporting to: Head of Catalytic Capital for Climate & Health
This is a new role that offers an opportunity in two distinct areas:
- Sustainability: Drive initiatives that align with Temasek Trust’s sustainability ambitions, strengthening TT as a responsible corporate citizen, and identifying opportunities for business optimization through sustainability.
- Catalytic Capital for Climate & Health: Work with various stakeholders to spearhead TT’s planet- and climate-related impact and initiatives, coordinate among various teams to assist to prioritise, shape and facilitate new programmes and initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Sustainability
Carbon Measurement and Reporting:
- Lead the measurement, analysis, and reporting of carbon emissions, using the organisation’s emissions measurement platform.
- Establish procedures to ensure data integrity and alignment with relevant reporting frameworks and best practices.
- Contribute to sustainability and impact reporting.
Strategy Development and Execution:
- Build on the ecosystem’s carbon emissions baseline to develop targeted carbon reduction strategies.
- Project management for the overall carbon reduction and sustainability roadmap, aligning with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
- Operationalize relevant sustainability policies and review established processes to identify opportunities to enhance or streamline.
- Engage in periodic auditing of relevant policies and supporting documentation.
Carbon Reduction Initiatives:
- Develop strategies to deploy designated funds to achieve impactful and measurable outcomes.
- Identify and execute opportunities for emissions avoidance and reduction across operations and value chains.
Business Optimization and Innovation:
- Drive the exploration and adoption of innovative carbon credit or offset solutions to complement reduction efforts.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, partners, and external agencies to embed sustainability (across Environmental, Social, and Governance areas) into business practices.
- Familiarity with the use of RECs and carbon credits is an advantage.
2) Catalytic Capital for Climate & Health
Portfolio:
- Critically evaluate new proposals and prioritise initiatives for resourcing.
- Work with TT’s impact hub to craft an indelible link back to a holistic framework of impact measurement, monitoring and tracking.
- Serve as the secretariat and key node for all planet related initiatives in TT.
- Identify and work to operationalise synergies between teams.
Knowledge Curation:
- Work across entities and teams, including TT’s Systems, Knowledge and Impact team to curate a portfolio of current planet knowledge.
- Identify and prioritize upcoming themes of interest.
- Develop a point of view on various climate initiatives and technologies, work with other teams to triangulate.
Other tasks:
- Assist with deep dives and due diligence with planet related companies and programmes.
- Work on special projects or tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 8 to 15 years of relevant experience in sustainability, carbon management, environmental strategy, or corporate strategy.
- Track record of working with stakeholders in a cross functional team and environment.
- Self-starter, ability to work in ambiguity.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong analytical and project management skills, with a track record of establishing and optimizing governance models and business processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to distil complex concepts into clear, concise business insights.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Prior direct experience in a climate related sector or role.
- Familiarity with carbon accounting standards, sustainability reporting frameworks and offset mechanisms, e.g. GHG Protocol, GRI Standards, IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
