Overview
Sr. Manager, In-plant Logistics Engineering leads strategy, planning, design, development, and deployment of in-plant logistics systems, processes and material handling, storage infrastructure and detailed packaging strategy across end-to-end in-plant functions. This role covers inbound truck parking to internal/external warehouses, dock-to-marketplace flows, kitting, sequencing, and lineside parts feeding. The ideal candidate will develop lean, agile, cost-effective strategic solutions to ensure maximized seamless production from the installed production line and will bring deep expertise in logistics strategies, digital technologies, leadership, and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing logistics engineering team responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing logistics systems (warehousing, transportation, distribution) and packaging strategy and solutions.
- Drive strategic initiatives including network design, capacity planning, cost-to-serve modeling, and logistics performance improvements.
- Design and optimize warehouse layouts, material handling systems, and logistics flows using AutoCAD, simulation tools, and engineering analysis.
- Evaluate and implement automation technologies (e.g., conveyors, AS/RS, AGVs, robotics) to enhance productivity and throughput.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, IT, procurement, and 3PL partners to ensure alignment on logistics strategies.
- Oversee RFPs and infrastructure investments related to logistics assets, including new site development or facility expansion.
- Analyze logistics data and KPIs to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Lead lean logistics and continuous improvement efforts, including Kaizen events and Six Sigma projects.
- Support new product introductions, plant launches, and business expansions by ensuring scalable and efficient logistics solutions.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and corporate policies in logistics operations.
People and Leadership
- Manage, coach and develop a high-performing team that meets objectives and delivers best-practice results and continuous improvements.
- Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review ongoing performance of direct reports.
- Monitor staff to maintain accurate material schedules and ensure timely delivery of materials to the site.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies to safeguard the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations.
- At least 5 years in a managerial or senior leadership role in logistics.
- Experience managing large teams and complex distribution networks.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and excellent communication skills.
- Proficient with ERP and WMS systems (e.g., SAP).
- Financial acumen and capex management.
- Experience in inbound logistics in automotive or manufacturing sectors.
