Job Purpose
Leads and executes advanced reservoir engineering activities, including simulation studies, reserves estimation, well surveillance, and field development strategies.
Supports production optimization through reservoir modeling and simulation, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve ultimate recovery and guide operational decisions.
Undertakes and supervises studies and special projects, including reservoir simulation studies and integrated development plans for improving methods of exploration and production of crude oil and related products.
Key Accountabilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
- Analyzes geological and petrophysical data to characterize reservoir properties, including porosity, permeability, and fluid behavior.
- Develops accurate reservoir models using reservoir simulation software to predict reservoir performance over time.
- Incorporates well data, pressure data, and production history to refine reservoir models.
- Estimates hydrocarbon reserves using various methods, including material balance calculations, decline curve analysis, and numerical simulation.
- Prepares reserves reports compliant with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with regulatory agencies and internal teams to ensure accurate and transparent reporting.
- Support Ministry and joint venture reporting, and present technical findings to management.
- Develops and implements strategies to optimize production and recovery from reservoirs.
- Recommends well intervention techniques, such as workovers or stimulations, to enhance well productivity.
- Analyzes well performance and proposes changes to well operations based on reservoir dynamics.
- Evaluates and recommends appropriate enhanced oil recovery methods, such as waterflooding, gas injection, or chemical treatments.
- Conducts feasibility studies and simulations to assess the potential of EOR techniques.
- Monitors and assess the effectiveness of implemented EOR projects.
- Analyzes pressure data to understand reservoir dynamics and behavior.
- Designs and implements pressure maintenance strategies to maintain reservoir pressure and maximize recovery.
- Interprets pressure transient tests and pressure buildup data to refine reservoir models.
- Strictly follows established environmental, health, safety and quality policies and procedures in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/services and a responsible environmental attitude.
- Undertakes accountabilities in the operational excellence process as set out in the schedule of responsibilities.
- Contributes to the processes of continuous improvement for the area assigned.
- Performs any other relevant task as directed by Superintendent Petroleum Engineering & Development.
Skills
- Advanced skills in simulation software (ECLIPSE, Petrel, CMG)
- Strong understanding of reservoir management, modeling, and recovery optimization
- Ability to lead integrated teams and complex projects
- Proficiency in data analysis, surveillance planning, and economic evaluation
- Effective communicator with technical report writing and presentation skills
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in reservoir engineering
Qualifications
- Minimum 9 years in Oil & Gas with focus on reservoir simulation and management.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent. (Master’s preferred).
