Overview
This role contributes to the design and analysis of pressure vessels and related equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and delivering high-quality engineering documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design and analysis: Develop detailed designs for pressure vessels, combustion chambers, and heat recovery units using COMPRESS and PV Elite.
- Perform structural and thermal analysis using ANSYS and NozzlePro to ensure integrity under operating conditions.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Code compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry codes and standards, including ASME Section VIII, API 560, and other applicable specifications.
- Prepare and review design calculations and documentation for third-party approvals and inspections.
- Prepare Technical Delivery Conditions (TDCs) as per Code requirements and project specifications.
- Verify software outputs with respect to Code formulas using manual calculations / references from ASME PTB’s.
- Project execution: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and quality standards. Collaborate with design engineers, process engineers, project engineers, and manufacturing engineers to align designs with project requirements.
- Provide drawings / sketches to procurement for sourcing materials as required; review vendor drawings prior to fabrication.
- Technical leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff. Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and reports. Identify and implement best practices in design processes and tools.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving: Address design challenges during fabrication, testing, and commissioning phases. Propose innovative solutions for complex engineering problems.
- Documentation and reporting: Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, drawings, and manuals. Maintain accurate records of engineering activities and revisions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in pressure vessel design and ASME Sec VIII designed equipment, preferably in the pressure vessel and thermal equipment industry.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
