Job Description – NDT UT / PAUT Level II Technician

Salary: ₹1,50,000 per month
Role Overview
The NDT UT/PAUT Level II Technician is responsible for performing ultrasonic testing, phased-array ultrasonic testing, corrosion mapping, weld inspections, and water tank inspections (online/offline) in accordance with international NDT standards. The role demands strong technical expertise, accurate data interpretation, and adherence to strict safety and quality protocols. Experience with robotic inspection data interpretation will be considered an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out UT and PAUT inspections as per Level II competency and applicable codes/standards.
- Perform water tank inspections (online and offline), corrosion mapping, thickness gauging, and weld inspection activities.
- Prepare, calibrate, and maintain ultrasonic and PAUT equipment prior to inspection.
- Interpret UT/PAUT data, generate accurate inspection reports, and document findings.
- Conduct defect characterization, sizing, and evaluation to determine structural integrity.
- Follow approved procedures, inspection plans, and client specifications during all testing activities.
- Coordinate with engineers, QA/QC teams, and supervisors to execute inspection schedules.
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and maintain safe work practices at all times.
- Assist in analyzing robotic inspection data (if applicable).
- Maintain proper documentation, including calibration records, test results, and daily logs.
Essential Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Metallurgy / Materials Engineering / NDT Technology / Engineering Technology.
- Certified NDT Level II in UT (Ultrasonic Testing) or PAUT (Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in UT Level II or PAUT Level II inspection work.
Skills & Technical Competencies
- Strong hands‑on experience in UT Level II and/or PAUT Level II techniques.
- Knowledge of corrosion mapping, thickness gauging, weld inspections, and defect evaluation.
- Experience in water tank inspection (online or offline).
- Ability to interpret and analyze inspection data accurately.
- Familiarity with international NDT standards (ASME, ASTM, API, ISO).
- Strong technical reporting skills and understanding of inspection documentation.
- Advantageous: Experience working with robotic inspection systems and data interpretation.
