Position Overview

The Customs Clearance Agent is responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant movement of goods across borders. This role involves preparing and processing all necessary customs documentation, calculating duties and taxes, and liaising with government agencies and clients. The agent plays a crucial part in the supply chain, ensuring that shipments are cleared in a timely manner while adhering to all relevant customs laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary point of contact between clients, freight forwarders, and customs authorities. Provide regular updates on shipment status and resolve any clearance-related issues.
  • Maintain meticulous records of all customs transactions, documentation, and communication for audit purposes.
  • Investigate and resolve any customs holds, discrepancies, or delays.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements. Ensure all clearance procedures are in strict compliance with national and international laws.
  • Prepare and review a variety of customs documents, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or equivalent is required. A degree or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
