This role supports guest well‑being by integrating rhythmic exploration, mindful listening, and creative play using instruments such as hand drums, frame drums, Arabic percussion (e.g., darbuka, riq, daf, drums, piano), and other world instruments.

Guided by Miraval’s philosophy of self‑discovery, presence, and transformation, the instructor designs music‑based experiences that foster emotional expression, focus, and joy, while respecting the cultural heritage and artistic traditions of the region.

Key Responsibilities:

Music Facilitation & Guest Engagement:

  • Lead individual and group sessions using rhythm and sound to support mindfulness, creativity, and emotional release.
  • Facilitate experiences with Arabic and world percussion instruments, including but not limited to darbuka, daf, riq, frame drums, piano and handpan.
  • Introduce guests to intuitive music‑making techniques, focusing on rhythmic coordination, listening, and mindful movement through sound.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where guests of all musical backgrounds can explore expression through music.
  • Offer personalized guidance in instrument use, adapting techniques to suit each guest’s comfort level and goals.

Program Development & Cross‑Disciplinary Integration:

  • Design signature music experiences that align with Miraval’s seasonal programming or emotional exploration themes.
  • Collaborate with Wellness, Fitness, and Movement teams to integrate sound and rhythm into broader wellness offerings.
  • Develop specialized sessions such as sunset drumming circles, meditative sound journeys, or rhythm‑based stress relief workshops.
  • Stay current with trends in music therapy, sound meditation, and expressive arts to ensure offerings remain innovative and relevant.

Operational Excellence & Cultural Sensitivity:

  • Maintain and care for all musical instruments, ensuring they are properly cleaned, tuned, and stored.
  • Set up creative spaces with intention, ensuring an organized, serene, and culturally respectful environment.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and hospitality protocols as outlined by Miraval and Saudi Arabia’s wellness and cultural guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Serenity Center, Spa, and Body Mindfulness teams to design integrated guest journeys that blend music, movement, and reflection.
  • Support the broader well‑being team by contributing to retreats, special programming, and resort‑wide activations involving music.
  • Perform live, acoustic, or instrumental music during select resort occasions, such as sunset gatherings, dinners, or private events, enhancing the ambiance and emotional resonance of the guest experience.
  • Assist the Guest Experience teams when needed, offering seamless support to ensure smooth scheduling and operations.

Professional Development, Innovation & Revenue Support:

  • Participate in Miraval’s professional training and team development sessions, continually refining facilitation techniques.
  • Share innovative ideas for music‑based offerings that reflect emerging wellness trends and cultural relevance.
  • Support spa and well‑being revenue goals by mindfully promoting private music sessions, instrument kits, or musical retail items that enhance the guest journey.
  • Contribute content or expertise for wellness education, articles, or media highlighting Miraval’s music‑based experiences.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or formal training in Music Education, Music Therapy, Performing Arts, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience facilitating music‑based workshops or interactive instrument experiences, ideally in a retreat, resort, music schools or wellness setting.
  • Proficiency in playing and teaching various instruments, with an emphasis on percussion, Arabic or regional instruments, or world music traditions.
  • Understanding of mindfulness practices, emotional expression through music, and the basics of sound as a wellness tool.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic is a strong asset.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with no musical background.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Inspiring and grounded facilitator with a passion for connecting others through rhythm and music.
  • Strong interpersonal and instructional skills with the ability to guide guests through expressive, non‑verbal experiences.
  • Emotionally attuned, culturally aware, and respectful in delivering music rooted in traditional forms.
  • Organized, dependable, and detail‑oriented in managing instruments, session preparation, and guest care.
  • Technologically proficient; able to use email, scheduling software, and digital tools for program tracking.
  • Enthusiastic about creativity, self‑expression, and the impact of sound on well‑being.
  • Competitive tax‑free salary based on experience and industry standards.
