A global manufacturing company located in Mexico seeks a Compliance Support Specialist to assist the Corporate Trade Compliance Team. This role involves researching technical product characteristics, assigning Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications and Export Control Classification Numbers, and ensuring that all import/export documentation is accurate and compliant with regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience with SAP and MS Excel, along with strong verification skills.

JOB SUMMARY

Primary task is to assist and support the Corporate Trade Compliance Team with researching and assigning Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS-US) classifications and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) to Jabil products and components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research part and product technical characteristics in SAP, customer or vendor websites, general WWW searches, or other database searches.
• Under direct supervision from Trade Compliance Manager, assign and enter HTS-US, ECCNs, and other import/export information directly into SAP or offline into an MS EXCEL database.
• Manage, sort, partition, extract or add date items using SAP or MS EXCEL spreadsheet tools.
• Other general administrative tasks as necessary to support Jabil Corporate Trade Compliance Team. Tasks may include product research file creation, data entry and retrieval, file development, entry reviews and audits, other administrative and organizational tasks as required.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Verify correct HTS classification is used by custom brokers.
• Verify that material descriptions for imports are complete and accurate.
• Check shipment value to SAP PO value matches.
• Check that all requirements from each carrier / broker are respond on time (less than 2 hours).
• Provide Backup documents and info to sites and users
• Help logistics to clear urgent shipments.
• Check documents, sent by forwarders, and ask for arrival notification on time.
• Gather information on raw material and finished goods to obtain an HTS classification
• Look for PO or PN to obtain correct info for clearance purposes.
• Verify terms of sale (Inco term) used on each request information shipment.
• Verify country of origin on commercial invoice is correct.
• Verify that all required information is correct and match with our requirements (Bill to address, ship to address, PO, PN, unit value, total value)
• Ensure that a material and import document complies with other US government agencies (OGA).
• ISF verification.
• Mexico’s (GDL, CUU, TJ, Juarez) operation.
• Request information for FDA and TSCA or other Government Agency as needed.
• Coordinate Hand carries, Charters, or other expedited service operations.
• Generate internal reports on operations.
• Drive sites and business unit invoicing activities to completion.
