Job Overview
The Technical Specialist I, Textile Exchange LATAM provides auditing and technical support to technical managers and program staff. The primary responsibility in this role is on-site and remote auditing of clients on standards owned by Textile Exchange, including Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Recycled Claim Standard (RCS), and Content Claim Standard (CCS). This includes audit planning, arranging travel, submitting timely audit reports, and responding to technical reviews promptly. Additional tasks may include support on program quality documents and participation in internal and accreditation audits.

Approximately 85% of the time will be spent auditing clients to the Textile Exchange standards, and approximately 15% (up to 50%) of the time will be spent supporting the Recycled Content Certification (RCC) program. The Recycled Content standard is developed and owned by the SCS Standard Development Organization. The overarching goal in this position is to successfully deliver certification services to SCS clients to allow them to leverage their certified products in the market, confirm both voluntary and regulatory requirements, and meet brand/retailer environmental and sustainability performance criteria.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management

  • Complete audits by adhering to agreed timelines, using the most updated program templates (checklists, reports, opening and closing meeting records)
  • Support the documentation, communication, and closure of audit findings
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal staff and external clients
  • Update project tracker promptly following completion of tracked project activity for all assigned projects

Auditing and Technical Expertise

  • Conduct both on-site and desk audits according to standards and program requirements following ISO 9001 auditing guidelines
  • Complete clear technical audit reports with increasing complexity (expansive scope, complex industry, standard), including applicable calculations, interpretation of testing results, and research
  • Write clear and technically accurate audit reports following program requirements
  • Conduct risk assessments and claims reviews when assigned

Quality and Program Development

  • Deliver certification services in accordance with SCS Corporate and Program Quality requirements, in addition to participation in periodic internal and external accreditation audits
  • Support the SCS quality management system through maintenance of competency records including training log, completed calibration activities, and up to date knowledge of SCS program and external scheme requirements
  • Support program staff in developing and testing any new program templates or tools, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in quantitative sciences (e.g., Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry) and
  • 2+ years of professional experience related to the textiles sector
  • Professional and technical experience in manufacturing facilities within the consumer electronics industry, metals industry, plastics recycling, textile/apparel industry, building materials, or other relevant industry sector, or auditing experience
  • Excellent technical writing, observation, and data management skills
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated abilities in critical thinking and data analysis
  • Fluency in English and Spanish with experience that includes professional and technical verbal and written communication with clients
  • Strong organization skills with proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Thrive in a deadline-driven environment by completing complex tasks and deliverables on time
  • Highly detail oriented with the ability to interpret standard requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; intermediate level in Excel
  • Initiative and ability to work independently; responsive and adaptive to a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lead Auditor in ISO 14001 or 9001
  • Located in Central America

Working Remotely
