A major film and television production company in Mexico City is seeking a Sr Production Finance Accountant. This role is responsible for managing the financial aspects of television productions, including cost reporting and accounts payable. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the entertainment industry is preferred.

Overview

The Sr Production Finance Accountant is responsible for handling the accounting on television productions in prep and post. This role will provide you with an opportunity to learn about various aspects of the entertainment industry, as well as an opportunity to join a team that is committed to ongoing process improvement and individual development.

Your New Role

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Performs the processing of outgoing and incoming payments & statements, journal entries, petty cash, pcard, bank reconciliations, payroll and the preparation, analysis & submission of monthly/quarterly/yearly cost reporting and cash forecasting.
  • Reviews and approves accounts payable, journal entry, payroll and petty cash edits for posting.
  • Uses problem-solving skills to identify procedural inconsistencies and recommend process improvements that will ensure our procedures and data are compliant, effective, and secure.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Accounting or Business Administration bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience with PSL, Smart Accounting, related third‑party accounting systems and MS Office preferred. Payroll knowledge is desirable.
  • Strategic and pragmatic with the ability to carry an idea through execution.
  • Strong planning, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Results oriented mindset with a drive to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to interact professionally (written and verbal) with WBD management and staff and outside vendors.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Ability to adapt to continuous changes.
  • Work as a team player.
  • Proactive.
  • Entertainment industry experience is preferred.
  • Previous financial accounting experience required.
  • Cash flow experience preferred.
  • Previous experience presenting to various staff levels, leading meetings & training, etc.
  • Experience in a large corporate environment preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Fast learner and strong problem solver.
  • Production finance experience for Local Originals for Mexico: Movies, Scripted and Unscripted projects.
  • Close relations with third party production companies finance teams.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monthly Cost Reporting, Cash Forecast and Trial Balance reconciliation 25%
  • Accounts Payable, Purchase Order, Journal Entry, Petty Cash and Pcard entry, processing, research and resolution 55%
  • Accounts Payable, Purchase Order, Journal Entry, Petty Cash and Pcard audit and approve batches 10%
  • Schedule and lead Prep and Post Accounting turnover meetings 5%
  • Perform other duties as assigned 5%
