Job Overview
TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD-driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They help Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also plan, develop, and qualify tooling and manual / automate processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, help the supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and follow all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead LEANPD driven new product development projects and adhere to Lean principles throughout the process.
- Serve as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering to optimize design for manufacturability.
- Optimize designs and piece parts for manufacturability and realize sample tooling, product samples, and prototypes.
- Plan, develop, and qualify tooling and manual or automated processes for high-speed products to meet TE quality and production standards; document processes and tooling in applicable TE systems.
- Support supplier qualification by verifying supplier compliance and capability.
- Initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost, and cycle time, following applicable specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.
- Drive excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and implement new manufacturing technologies to improve process and tolerance control.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and drive adoption of innovative solutions to improve manufacturing capabilities.
- Lead risk management and regulatory compliance efforts to ensure GMP, ISO standards, and customer requirements are met.
What your background should look like
- Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering Degree or equivalent is preferred.
- Work experience within functional/sub-functional areas and knowledge across related functions.
- Leadership skills with the ability to direct a function or multiple sub-functions.
- Analytical skills with the ability to work on issues of diverse scope and provide input on key issues impacting the function.
- Ability to adapt and make significant departures from traditional approaches to enhance quality or value.
- Experience in interacting with senior management, with the ability to change thinking and gain acceptance from others.
- Ability to establish and assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively between engineering and manufacturing/production teams.
- Experience with applicable systems (SAP, TLM, CAD, etc.) and familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Strong understanding of industry document specifications like US-CAR & IPC620.
- Strong understanding of cable making technology, stamping and plating technology, HSG molding technology, metal and plastic raw material characteristics.
- Understanding of product tolerance analysis and stability using data analysis (e.g., CPK).
- Experience with the product development process, providing DFM, SOP, PFMEA, BOP, CTAR as required for each phase according to the project schedule.
- Experience with equipment capability in the cable assembly process, ability to complete equipment capacity improvements, and familiarity with IE knowledge to improve product efficiency.
- Working knowledge of manual, semi-automatic and automatic assembly processes.
