Overview

Position

Senior Manager in Software Engineering (SWE) to lead, develop, and scale our growing SWE Center of Excellence (CoE) made up of an elite group of software engineers (back-end, front-end, full stack, DevOps) working on client applications and in-house product development initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end strategic planning for the CoE, including growth strategy, defining key areas of focus, career paths, and establishing leadership roles and responsibilities within the team.
  • Manage and execute company and team objectives in a dynamic, start-up–oriented, fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Serve as a strategic counselor for clients, helping with Factored Talent and driving market discussions as thought leaders.
  • Balance engineers' interests and Factored goals in conversations with stakeholders across the company (Sales, Marketing, Finance, Recruiting, Talent Operations, etc.).
  • Maintain and enhance streamlined processes to boost efficiency and empower the SWE team.
  • Embed Factored values and lead the Center of Excellence, driving confidence within the team.
  • Collaborate with the People & Culture team to drive engagement across the SWE team.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative culture, encouraging professional growth and continuous learning by partnering with Factored’s training team.
  • Maintain clear, timely updates to peers, executives, and clients on progress, blockers, and capacity forecasts.
  • Communicate status and plans to leadership and clients to ensure alignment.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) as a Manager/Director leading and building engineering teams in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience with leading-edge data- and/or software-related technologies.
  • Experience managing teams in high-growth, innovative technology environments with demonstrated leadership across planning/execution, people management, processes, and technical excellence.
  • Experience in a professional services company is preferred.
  • Proven ability to build, optimize, and scale high-performing software teams in distributed/remote settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly. Proven ability to lead and inspire teams to meet objectives.
  • Strong hands-on technical experience with a broad range of data analytics frameworks and tools.
  • Familiarity with the complete software development lifecycle including Data Science / Machine Learning, Analytics, and Data Engineering.
  • Ability to visually represent complex data patterns to business stakeholders is preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for staying current with technology trends, experimentation, and participation in technology-focused communities.
