We are currently seeking a Sr. Database Administrator to join our team in Mexico City, México (MX-MEX), Mexico (MX).

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Database Administrator (DBA) to join our data team as a Manufacturing Database Performance Specialist. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and resilience of our manufacturing databases. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database profiling, query optimization, SQL Server Always‑On Availability Groups (AG) cluster management, storage best practices, and advanced performance tuning techniques, along with experience in disaster recovery planning and capacity forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Database Profiling and Query Plan Optimization: Use database profiling tools and query execution plans to analyze and optimize SQL queries. Implement advanced optimization techniques to ensure efficient query performance and minimize bottlenecks.
• SQL Server Always‑On Availability Groups (AG) Management: Configure, manage, and monitor SQL Server Always‑On AG clusters to ensure high availability and disaster recovery across our database environments. Troubleshoot and optimize AG configurations for maximum resilience and performance.
• Database Monitoring and Alert Management: Use SolarWinds SQL Sentry monitoring tools to create dashboards, track health metrics, and set proactive alerts to catch issues early. Resolve poorly performing queries before they impact production.
• Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing: Develop and implement disaster recovery plans, including setup and regular testing of failover processes to ensure high availability in case of system failures. Conduct periodic DR testing to validate recovery plans and minimize downtime during unexpected disruptions.
• Performance Troubleshooting and Optimization: Identify and address high‑impact performance issues, troubleshoot slow‑running queries, and collaborate with query owners to enhance performance. Conduct in‑depth query plan analysis and implement improvements.
• Storage Best Practices and Troubleshooting: Apply storage management best practices to ensure data integrity, optimize storage usage, and troubleshoot storage‑related performance issues. Ensure storage configurations support high availability and performance.
• Capacity Planning and Forecasting: Monitor usage patterns, conduct capacity forecasting, and proactively plan for future database growth. Ensure database infrastructure is scaled to meet evolving business demands while maintaining optimal performance.
• Advanced Performance Tuning Techniques: Utilize advanced tuning techniques, such as partitioning, indexing strategies, and I / O optimization, to improve query execution and support high‑performance requirements in high‑demands environments.
• Database Maintenance and Synchronization: Conduct regular maintenance, manage deployments, and ensure synchronization across multiple sites. Resolve discrepancies in indexes, tables, and best practices across locations.
• Production Support and Issue Resolution: Actively resolve production database issues, focusing on database performance concerns across web applications, reports, and other systems. Ensure reliable operation with minimal downtime.
• Incident Management and Documentation: Use Jira to log, track, and manage incidents. Contribute to a knowledge base documenting troubleshooting steps, storage and query optimization practices, and other best practices for future reference.

Requirements

• Proficiency in database profiling, query optimization, and storage management: Skilled in using profiling tools, interpreting query plans, and applying storage best practices for optimal database performance.
• Capacity planning and forecasting: Strong analytical skills to monitor database usage patterns, forecast growth, and plan for scalable infrastructure to support business needs.
• Advanced performance tuning techniques: Expertise in advanced performance tuning methods, including partitioning, indexing, and I / O optimization, to support high‑demands database environments.
• Strong background in SQL Server Always‑On Availability Groups (AG): Extensive experience configuring, managing, and optimizing SQL Server AG clusters to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning and testing: Proven experience in developing, implementing, and validating disaster recovery plans to support database availability and minimize downtime during failover events.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL monitoring tools like SolarWinds SQL Sentry or DPA for managing alerts and monitoring health.
• Familiarity with incident management tools like Jira for effective tracking and resolution of issues.
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with query owners, developers, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SQL Server VMware best practices to enhance virtualized database environments.
• Background in manufacturing databases and processes.
• Familiarity with Siemens MES Camstar or similar manufacturing execution systems.
• Knowledge of advanced profiling and SQL diagnostic tools for deeper query and storage performance insights.
