A global logistics leader in Mexico City seeks a candidate to classify products under import/export regulations and manage customs compliance. This role involves resolving issues with customs declarations and communicating with customers regarding regulatory procedures. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of US customs regulations and a bachelor's degree. Experience in international trade or logistics is preferred.

Job Description:

Job Summary

This position involves classifying products based on import/export regulations and determining eligibility for various regulatory programs related to international trade. The role acts as a liaison between UPS and government agencies, resolving issues related to customs declarations, shipping restrictions, and tax payments.

Responsibilities:

  • Use General Rules of Interpretation (GROI), Explanatory Notes, CROSS (Customs Rulings Online Search System), and other resources to substantiate classification decisions.
  • Participate in Country of Origin verification projects, contacting suppliers to obtain accurate Country of Origin information for products.
  • Manage and organize product databases and classification data using Excel and Access.
  • Enter product classifications and supporting documentation into proprietary systems.
  • Proactively communicate with customers, providing education on regulatory procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection Regulations.
  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred.
  • Experience in International Trade, Logistics, or Freight Forwarding - Preferred.
  • Previous experience with classification and/or FTA determination - Preferred.
