Job Description
Your Mission

The Site General Manager (SGM) is the driving force behind all site activities, ensuring operational excellence in manufacturing, EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety), quality, service, and cost. This role is pivotal in providing TAPI with a competitive edge by meeting site goals and aligning with both global and local strategic plans. The SGM is the face of TAPI at the site, representing the company to employees and, with corporate approval, to local and national authorities. Leading the site leadership team, the SGM fosters a culture of engagement and motivation.

Responsibilities

As the SGM, you will be the linchpin in achieving site goals, ensuring that strategic and operational plans are seamlessly executed. You will be the voice of the company to all site employees and their direct link to senior TAPI leadership. With corporate approval, you will represent TAPI to local authorities, community leaders, and sometimes customers. Your decisions will balance safety, quality, service and cost, overseeing production to meet all quality requirements on time and within budget.

You will clarify and align the responsibilities of all site roles, manage adherence to processes and lead conflict resolution. By enhancing processes using OPEX principles, you will drive business results and site competitiveness. Your leadership will extend to all site staff, ensuring responsibilities are met at every level. You will manage change effectively, coach and develop talent, and motivate employees to be fully engaged and enthusiastic about their work.

Integrating functional, regional and global KPIs into coherent site plans, you will negotiate and commit to site initiatives. You will contribute to the Global & Regional Operations strategy, applying benchmarks and best practices to drive continuous improvement. Coordinating a leadership team of solid- and dotted-line reports, you will foster partnerships within the site to achieve results.

Ensuring regulatory approval and compliance, you will create and maintain a safety culture and EHS excellence. You will plan for business continuity, develop detailed plans for short- and long-term results, and hold others accountable for performance. Overseeing projects and initiatives, you will aim to reduce costs, improve efficiency and meet regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

We are looking for a dynamic leader with a background in Chemistry, Engineering, Science, or a related field. A master’s degree or MBA is preferred. You should have at least 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role.

Your leadership skills should be exemplary, with a proven ability to develop high-performing teams and make decisions that prioritise safety, quality, service and cost. You must have an in‑depth understanding of local and global regulatory requirements, particularly Mexican regulations, and a background in chemistry is highly desirable.

Operational excellence is key, with experience in OPEX principles and a track record of improving business processes. Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish are essential, as is the ability to represent the company to internal and external stakeholders. You should be adept at managing change, solving problems and overseeing projects to improve efficiency and meet regulatory standards.

Cultural awareness and the ability to work within the Mexican and broader Latin American context are crucial. You should be an experienced people leader, capable of driving employee engagement and motivation. Flexibility, resilience and agility are essential qualities, especially as TAPI transitions to a standalone company.

This role is perfect for a seasoned leader ready to take on a challenging and rewarding position in the pharmaceutical API industry in Mexico. If you are ready to make a significant impact, we would love to hear from you!
