A global leader in information and analytics is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to design, develop, and maintain scalable SaaS applications. You will lead the development of new features, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior engineers in a flexible remote work model. Ideal candidates will have over 5 years of experience in Ruby and Rails, strong collaboration skills, and a proven ability to foster technical excellence.
Working in technology at Elsevier means that your work really does matter – it changes lives. And you’ll see the real-world impact of your day-to-day efforts.
Our technologists have applied new machine learning models to reduce gender biases against women in academia and developed technology to help medical professionals more accurately diagnose conditions that may have otherwise been missed. Whether you’re supporting the business to be more efficient, building better infrastructure to help things run more smoothly, or if you’re part of a team creating products for the customers we serve, there’s always a new challenge you’ll be helping to solve.
Our engineering squads work hand-in-hand with product managers, designers, and infrastructure teams to deliver impactful SaaS products. This particular role is within a dedicated product delivery squad, responsible for several core applications within our broader SaaS suite. We focus on building new features, maintaining and scaling existing products, and pioneering future services to meet the evolving needs of higher education.
We are seeking a highly talented Senior Software Engineer I, backend focused, with deep expertise in Ruby on Rails to join our dynamic engineering squad. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable SaaS applications, mentoring junior engineers, and driving technical excellence across your projects.
You will contribute to project planning, timelines, and development strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions under the guidance of more senior squad members.
We promote a healthy work/life balance across the organization. We offer an appealing working prospect for our people. With numerous wellbeing initiatives, shared parental leave, study assistance and sabbaticals, we will help you meet your immediate responsibilities and your long-term goals.
This is a remote role. Our teams operate in a flexible remote work model. You’ll be expected to participate in regular team meetings and engineering rituals in line with your team’s cadence.
Note: Occasional travel to the United States may be requested for annual in-person gatherings.
