Job Description

Rockwell Automation is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. As a lead engineer, you''ll play a critical role in developing and scaling automation and orchestration capabilities to accelerate business-to-IT delivery across our global technology stack. You will report to the Senior IT Manager located in USA and your role will be fully remote, working anywhere in Poland.

Responsibilities
  • Design, architect, and implement automation workflows for provisioning, configuration, and management of on-premise network devices, servers, and storage.
  • Lead the shift to a foundational-first approach by defining and standardizing configuration baselines for each device type and region, engaging with stakeholders for alignment and adoption.
  • Oversee the audit and discovery of existing device configurations, identify technical debt and compliance gaps, and drive the remediation of high-risk or non-standard assets.
  • Develop, maintain, and evolve reusable automation templates and playbooks (e.g., Ansible, NetBox, Terraform) to enable zero-touch provisioning and lifecycle management across infrastructure platforms.
  • Integrate approved configuration standards into automated provisioning workflows, ensuring new devices and refresh cycles are compliant and scalable.
  • Architect and automate compliance validation and drift detection mechanisms within provisioning pipelines, enabling real-time monitoring and rapid remediation.
  • Implement configuration management features including version control, rollback workflows, SNMP hardening, secure management protocol enforcement, and rationalized NTP/interface/VLAN governance.
  • Champion continuous improvement by reviewing and updating baselines and automation frameworks as technology and business requirements evolve.
  • Lead the design and implementation of automation solutions for enterprise infrastructure and application environments using CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
  • Architect and optimize build, test, and deployment pipelines for both cloud and on-premises infrastructure, focusing on reliability, efficiency, and security.
  • Develop and curate advanced toolkits for configuration management, system provisioning, and environment monitoring using industry-standard tools.
  • Operate under the banner of Operational Excellence and Leadership: serve as an internal consultant and mentor, champion automation best practices, and foster knowledge sharing across IT teams.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, operations, and business partners to align automation initiatives with organizational goals, compliance requirements, and operational metrics.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives for automation and configuration management.
  • Own documentation for automation architectures, processes, and infrastructure workflows, ensuring transparency, compliance, and smooth knowledge transfer.
  • Present technical recommendations and updates to senior stakeholders, contributing to policy and standards frameworks.
The Essentials — You Will Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in DevOps, SRE, or senior infrastructure automation roles, with proven leadership in complex, enterprise-scale automation projects.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure (systems, networking, cloud, security).
  • Strong experience with CI/CD tools and advanced pipeline engineering (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
  • Expert proficiency in scripting/programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
  • Advanced skills with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
The Preferred — You Might Also Have
  • Experience designing or managing automation for large-scale or distributed enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking services, load balancers, or hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Experience with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow) or asset/configuration management databases (CMDB).
  • Certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure/GCP, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes).
