About The Role
The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing role that is responsible for day-to-day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating with clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist is responsible for more Enterprise clients and is expected to have a deep understanding of their service line and how it impacts other areas of business to create a holistic marketing strategy. Internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.
What You'll Do
- Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Create custom strategies and implement best practices for clients to achieve our NSMs. Use the project phase as a foundational moment for building the initial client strategy, and continuously optimize strategies based on clients’ marketing goals, ongoing campaigns, and historical performance while adhering to Directive best practices.
- Collaborate with Associate Director (AsD) when roadblocks arise that impact strategy and goal attainment.
- Craft creative briefs and compelling content campaigns with ideation based on competitor and audience insights.
- Apply Best Practices to inform strategies to position clients to exceed goals. In particular: LTV:CAC modeling, Customer Generation, Share of SERP, Content Production.
Goal Setting
- Set goals using available data during the engagement, reviewed and approved by the Associate Director (AsD), who should attend the meeting.
- Data sources include Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush reporting, and Ahrefs reporting. All goals must be approved by the AsD before presenting to the client with the AsD.
Project Management
- Ensure planned strategy is executed. Use a project management approach to communicate responsibilities and progress to the Directive team and the client.
- Use Asana for project management. Delegate tasks to team members and clients, and ensure timely completion.
- In pods with Project Managers, partner to ensure tasks are created, assigned, due dates met, and communicated to the client.
- Coordinate with content writers and designers to complete content campaigns on time while maintaining client quality standards.
Internal and External Communication
- Serve as the main interface between clients and the team. Build relationships beyond deliverables to be the best consultant for the client’s business and proactively communicate with clients and internal leadership to drive results.
- Communicate timeline expectations, progress on goals, and deliverables using shared channels (e.g., Slack) and maintain a regular cadence outside bi-weekly meetings.
- Inform internal leadership of roadblocks, opportunities for account growth, and any changes related to clients (strategy shifts, marketing changes, point-of-contact changes, etc.).
Reporting
- Regularly report to clients on progress and impact. Cadence includes:
- Bi-weekly meetings with the client (note NSM progress and ongoing deliverables).
- Monthly reports.
- Quarterly reports.
- Bi-annual business reviews.
What You\'ll Bring
- Proven track record of success implementing SEO principles and content strategy: keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building.
- Analytical insight: ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics.
- Strong communication skills: comfortable client-facing and owning relationships with key stakeholders.
- Familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog.
- Proven organizational, project, and time management skills.
- Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO, and content.
- Agency experience required.
- B2B tech and/or SaaS experience required.

- Strategists should regularly seek opportunities for clients to grow with Directive (e.g., expanding to additional service lines or increasing budgets).

- Client CSAT target and related metrics track progress over time.

Work Environment Requirements
- Remote-first company with the option to use our offices in Irvine, CA. For some roles, global opportunities are available in Canada, the UK, and Australia, with work authorization and residency requirements.
- This role has the option to operate 100% virtually from home. Collaboration is primarily via Zoom and Slack. You must have a compatible laptop, necessary software, and reliable internet. You may be required to remain stationary for extended periods and to interpret written and verbal communication.
