About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled QA Engineer specializing in Core Database systems to join our remote team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of both our open-source ClickHouse project and our cloud-based offerings. As a key member of the Core Engineering team, you will work cross-functionally with engineering and product teams to develop and implement automation frameworks, execute testing strategies, and improve overall system robustness. Your efforts will directly contribute to the seamless operation of ClickHouse Cloud at a global scale, supporting our mission to deliver the fastest and most reliable analytical database solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in release engineering, automation, and distributed systems, with a passion for quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of SQL and database systems


• Previous experience in a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), Release Engineering, or QA role related to classical databases or distributed systems


• Hands‑on experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, or C++


• Ability to read and validate C++ code


• Working knowledge of Git, Linux, and shell scripting


• Experience with manual testing and automation testing frameworks


• Strong collaboration skills, especially with remote teams


• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within cross‑functional teams


• Strong problem‑solving and production debugging abilities


• Ability to learn complex technologies quickly in a fast‑paced environment


• Experience in testing large‑scale distributed systems is preferred

Responsibilities

• Build, enhance, and maintain test automation frameworks to improve testing efficiency


• Develop automated test cases to cover new features and existing functionalities


• Conduct testing of new features to ensure smooth deployment into production environments


• Test cross‑functional implementations across various internal teams at ClickHouse


• Implement innovative testing strategies and automation solutions for complex distributed systems


• Evaluate new functionalities in each release, identifying areas for improvement within the codebase


• Engineer and optimise existing testing infrastructure for scalability and reliability


• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with developers to ensure quality standards are met


• Support continuous integration and delivery pipelines to streamline release processes


• Debug production issues and contribute to improving system stability and performance
