CIMMYT is seeking a proactive, organized, problem‑solver and customer‑service‑oriented professional for the position of Buyer: Logistics and Insurance to work on the Buyers Unit of CIMMYT. Specific Duties: Conducts sourcing of qualified providers for assigned goods and services both locally and internationally related to the following categories: furniture and office equipment (purchase, repair, and maintenance); risk management requirements (insurance, uniforms, PPE, etc.); local and international logistics (transport, customs brokers, fuel cards, etc.).

Responsibilities
  • Identify, propose, and develop new providers of goods and services to facilitate CIMMYT's operating requirements.
  • Execute bidding/tender processes as required for competitive vendor selection.
  • Establish effective communication and collaboration processes with internal clients, suppliers, and partner units to ensure efficient completion of the procurement process.
  • Negotiate the best terms possible with suppliers on all procurement transactions.
  • Request suppliers the documents required for purchase agreement execution if the purchase transaction requires a contract.
  • Request new suppliers the documents required for vendor registration/onboarding.
  • Create purchase orders (PO) in the Institutional ERP system based on fully approved purchase requisition for the assigned procurement categories, send it for approval and forward it to the vendor, along with the purchase contract if a contract is needed.
  • Support the monthly and annual closing of POs in the institutional ERP.
  • Follow up on the delivery of ordered goods and services with the assigned suppliers.
  • Coordinate with the IMPEX specialist on the purchases of imported items, to ensure compliant, effective, and accelerated import process.
  • Instill a service‑oriented mindset with efficacy and efficiency in the procurement operation.
  • Support the periodic vendor evaluation process and due diligence process.
  • Other related activities that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Finance or Logistics.
  • At least 3 years of experience in similar roles or positions.
  • Advanced level in MS Office.
  • Advanced level of English (written and conversational). English will be tested, and candidates should score a minimum of C1 on CEFR.
  • Knowledge of insurance matters will be considered as an advantage.
  • Competencies: Organization, critical thinking, teamwork, client orientation, problem‑solving decision making, negotiation and conflict resolution.
